Something New

Was up everyone here to tell you about another great week at South Boston. In South Boston I learned that the kids love to find new things and learn the most about them. The kids find something new they love to show it off and ask so many question about why is it the way it is and how it happened. When I don't have all the answers they give me there guests and thats way better then what I was going to say. When I think I seen it all the kids find some thing new to show me. As we put down the crab traps down after 30 mins of getting crabs something goes in to the trap that wasn't a crab. One of the kids told me it was a "Sea Dragon" and to me I thought it was a snake at first but it had a fin so I know it wasn't. Seeing a Sea Dragon was cool to me because it was my first time and seeing the kids tell me about it

Me & Crab

Hey there everyone. It's Michael Atkins just thinking that I couldn't be in a better place! The site that I was placed at was South Boston. When I got there, there was this long walk that I couldn't beleve I had to walk. The walk wasn't that bad with the ocean being right next to it and seeing planes come in from where they had been. When I got there I couldn't beleve how much the kids knew about the ocean. The kids were telling me about crabs and I didn't know a thing. Me not knowing how to hold a crab, or seeing a crab that close to my face, I was a little scared when they told me how to hold it. They showed me and I did it. Knowing you can hold crabs without them grabbing you was cool to me.

My First Day

I'm Michael Atkins I am 18 and I will be going to college at Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in the fall and is currently taking a summer school there now.

I am a summer intern for Blue Cross Blue Shield and working at Save the Harbor/Save the Bay. My first day was different then other jobs I had. Me having classes in the morning I arrived in the afternoon and I thought I was going to be abell to hangout and relax it being the first day and all but no. I went out and saw these men putting away fish - which I couldn't identify at all!

I learned a new fish today. The fish was called a Red Fish and if you seen it it looked like something from a movie. The fish being a bright blood red color with these massive big eyes, the reason why because the Red Fish live deep in the ocean and when they get them all the pressure from the fish coming up so fast the eyes get big from the pressure. I never seen a fish like that in my life and it was cool to see and learn about the Red Fish because it lets you know that there more out there then what you see on T.V. or in movies. My first day is something that I will always remember.
