Summer is Here!
Hi I'm Janet Stalker, Youth Program Director for Save the Harbor - and first time blogger!
Today we finally got the chance to kick off our summer season, as we had the first official gathering of all of our summer staff together for training week. We've had a good morning here in the office, but are excited to head to South Boston in a few minutes to try out our fishing rods and crab traps for the first time this season! I will follow with pictures soon...
See you on the Harbor!

Summer 2009
Welcome to Save the Harbor /Save the Bay's 2009 Summer Youth Program Blog.
My name is Bruce Berman, and I am Director of Strategy and Communications at SH/SB, and (along with David Coffin and Janet Stalker) lead Save the Harbor's two youth environmental education and recreation programs, the Boston Harbor Explorers, and All Access Boston Harbor.
I also teach marine science, history and communications at Boston University. You might want to visit my marine science blog at http://snails2whales.blogspot.com sometime.
I live on a boat in Boston Harbor with my wife and four snails. I like fishing photography, and learning new things. Did I mention fishing?
I am really looking forward to the summer, and spending time with our youth program staff and with some of the thousands of great kids we will connect with Boston Harbor and the Boston Harbor Islands this summer.
But most importantly, I am looking forward to seeing the sun after two straight weeks of rain!!!!
