The Last Fishing Trip

Hey everybody! I know the summer is almost over but there's still a lot of fun to be had. The weather is always unpredictable on Long Island and we have experienced hot and cold all in a matter of a week. Luckily we had some great weather for our fishing trip on Wednesday. This week we had one of the best fishing clubs we have had so far this summer and we caught a lot of different fish. What was weird was that we didn't catch any flounder or Skate like we usually do! Every child caught at least one fish and some even caught more.

As I said before, it was a beautiful day for a fishing trip. We laughed a lot, listened to good music and sprayed each other with water. It was pretty refreshing and we stayed cool all day. Unfortunately, this was our last fishing trip of the summer and we are all extremely sad. I'm going to miss captain Charlie, Sam and the kids and staff from CHV when the summer ends but there's always next year.

Chv Fishing Trip #2

Hey everyone it's Mauricio again back with more from Camp Harbor view! I have been having a blast so far this summer and the kids have been super into everything we've been doing at CHV. Wednesday, July 27 was the date of our second fishing trip. This fishing trip was one to remember. Not because of the fish we caught but because of the jokes and awesome communication going on between us and the campers. We hadn't been catching a lot of fish so the trip ended up being a bust , but we still had fun at the end of the day.

It is said the reason why we didn't catch that many fish is because of a banana! A silly banana caused our troubles. It is a fisherman myth that if someone on board the vessel is eating a banana then it won't be a healthy day for fishing. Even though we didn't catch many fish the kids were engaged in talking with the staff , cracking jokes and just having a good overall time. The best thing is they never gave up trying to catch fish either! They were determined to get their catch and they defiantly deserved it.

Working with a broad base of civic, corporate, government, scientific, philanthropic and community partners, Save the Harbor / Save the Bay continues to strengthen the connections between communities and the harbor, and promote the increasingly important impact Boston Harbor has on the region’s economy.

Each year Save the Harbor / Save the Bay runs 2 free Youth Environmental Education Programs that combine recreation and hands-on education to bring Boston Harbor alive for thousands of Boston area young people. Since 2003, we have connected nearly 250,000 youth and teens to Boston Harbor, the Boston Harbor Islands, our region's public beaches and Boston's waterfront.
