Hustling For "The Hustle"

Gearing up for the start of one of the stations.

The last day of session 1 was on Thursday, marking the end of a great first half of the summer. It was an eventful day with "The Hustle" and the Talent Show both taking place. The last day of the sessino was also an emotional day for both campers and staff, these people weren't going to see each other for another year and they were very sad.

   "The Hustle" is a massive relay race where Campers are put into teams based on their lighthouse (a lighthouse is a large group of about 100 campers). The Campers were pumped up for "The Hustle" and were drenched in their lighthouse colors. With Yellow hair, green bandanas, and purple necklaces, all the campers were showing their team spirit. Once "The Hustle" started everyone camper went 110% to make sure their team won. Knowing this was the last day of camp these campers wanted to make a lasting impression, and literally put their blood, sweat, and tears into the relay. From the rock climbing station, the pie eating station, and the paddle boarding station, the relay was a lot of fun for everyone watching and involved.

 The Talent Show was just as fun and entertaining, and I was really surprised by the amount of talent the young campers had. One of the campers sang the Song "All of Me", another danced to the song "Mangolia", and one of the LIT's shared his poem. All of the campers were cheering on their friends and enjoying these amazing performances, which was a lot fun for us to watch.
   I am gonna miss the Campers from Session 1, but I am excited for the second half of the summer.

Chv Overload

Hey everyone it's Mauricio Again , And Of  course I'm back with more from CHV. This time I get to talk about The Hustle! The hustle is a huge race all the kids in the camp do , so there are 5 teams. Each team is a lighthouse and they all compete to get camp bragging rights.

There are stations set up and the campers must complete each activite before continuing to the next. Some of the activities were basketball , sailing and paddle boarding. There were many more. The best part of the day had to be when a huge Mass State Police helicopter landing in the middle of the camp. I'm lucky enough to have snapped a picture with it !

It was an amazing day! Glad I'm a part of Chv Staff and got to experience such a awesome day.

On your mark, get set, GO!

This past thursday we wrapped up the first session of CHVs summer camp. The day came filled with a ton of emotion, excitement, and energy. On the last day the kids take part of the hustle. A morning event that takes up the first two blocks of the day before lunch. The camp is divided by lighthouses, the respective groups of the camp, to compete against each other.

        The morning prep is analogous to that of a pep rally. All the children get together and paint their faces to match their lighthouse. Morning chants shake the dining common and all the kids become excited to attempt to be the first to complete the hustle.
        One of our favorite campers was so entirely in the spirit of the hustle that he painted his entire body orange. The energy engulfing Long Island was contagious. At the end of the day Great Point Lighthouse(GPL) won the hustle. Though only one winner was crowned all the campers were considered champions. They endured the hot summer, long days of camp, and finished the first session of CHV. Lets have a round of applause for the campers.
