Sand raking at Carson

This past Friday at Carson, we had a professional sand raking artist come to show us how to make designs by sand raking. He was very patient, clear, and fun to work with. The kids loved it! They all got rakes and paper instructions to make specific designs.  They drew flowers up and down the beach in the sand. He worked hand and hand with the kids and along side staff to create the best artwork I have ever seen on the beach. The kids loved it as well. They were amazed at what they could do. So was I!
Even the staff were amazed at how he helped us create the art work as well. He helped us through the process and gave the group guidance. Together we made amazing art work. Sadly it is not there anymore, but it's work like this that kids will always remember and people always cherish most. The art work done on the sand will be shared through the photos and memories of all involved.

Till next time-Joe

Olliepalooza!

On Thursday at Moakley park in South Boston, the South Boston Neighborhood House hosted an event called Olliepalooza. The event was outstanding! It was hot and sunny, but everywhere you looked there were kids running and playing. They had water slides and sprinklers everywhere. We also had fish-printing. All the kids loved it. They got to design and make a fish-print, some on shirts and some on rice paper.
They had all types of ideas and designs! They went all out with spots and stripes. The kids and even their parents were interested in the fish-prints. The kids made all sorts of prints. They made stripes, polka-dots, polka-dots and stripes. Some kids even made multi layered.I really enjoyed the event and I'm glad I got to make so many kids happier than when they arrived.
Till next time-Joe

The Ball!

During family fun night at Carson, we had a ball! Not just any ball, this ball was special. The kids loved it, the staff loved it and everyone had a great time! This ball was a twelve foot beach ball! The ball was massive! It was easily three, if not four, times taller than any of the kids that kicked it around.

It took a long time to inflate it, but it was definitely worth it. The kids ran up and down the beach pushing and hitting it and even got it airborne a couple of times. It was amazing! The kids were jumping and cheering every time the ball took off! The kids never stopped moving! Always running, bouncing and hitting the ball to the next area.
The ball was huge, but light. It was easily sent soaring when the kids hit it up. Everyone had so much fun and I can't wait till next time.
till then -Joe

News from the Seafood Festival!

Hello again!  Last week at the seafood festival there was so many happy faces. Kids and parents both enjoyed painting shells and making fish prints. Many of the kids painted shells. They made tons and tons of cool and crazy designs like batman, fish, dolphins and others. The kids where so creative and artistic throughout the day. They were always blending and making new colors to make shapes and animals on the shells.
The kids all had fun painting shells. After painting the shells, some even wanted to do more. They had so much fun, that they didn't even want to leave! After shell painting, some of them did fish printing and some even bought a couple of t-shirts!

I'm so excited to see what happens next! Till then-Joe
