"Careful They Bite!"

Deep Sea Fishing
     Hey everyone,
This was a great week of work as I was located at Castle Island on Wednesday and Thursday. I had not been to Castle Island in a few years prior to then and I had forgotten the layout of the island which made it fun when I arrived there. I went and explored the places that I was allowed to venture into which was nice. I ended the week on an all-day deep-sea fishing trip and caught many cool and new fish species that I had not heard of and interacted with. We also saw a few whales and a leather back sea turtle which I didn't realize how big they were until I was up close to it on the boat, it was a great way to end the week!
My amazing Catch

Climate change has affected me in a plethora of ways when it comes to my daily life. One of the most notable ways is that there are a lot more efforts to reduce the use of vehicles and large Co2 releasing machines which is why blue bikes are so common in the city of Boston where people can pay to rent out a bike for the day and ride to their needed destinations opposed to driving and releasing more harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.
Something that I noticed that climate change has impacted is the type of fish that we catch, although I have only been fishing for about two years now with Save the Harbor I've heard many stories from fisherman and other people that fished in the harbor decades ago that back then there was always an abundance of fish and due to over fishing and climate change those fish have migrated south and off the coast because the water temperatures and pH levels have gotten too high for them to live. I believe change has been detrimental to the marine life in the harbor and all organisms on earth but on the contrary, I think that we as a society and people are headed in the right direction when it comes to making this planet healthier and we are on the up tick.

First Catch of the Summer

This Monday was my first time at Courageous Sailing Center and although I had bad start to my morning, by getting lost, my day ended good. I was lost for about an hour as I headed out to work Monday morning. I knew I was in the wrong place and with the help of my coworker, Andrea, I was guided to right area. It was pretty far from where I was but the view from the dock was cool. We pulled up two lobster traps and found lots of green crabs inside them along with a Forbes starfish! It had lots of spikes on its back and an orange dot. It didn't move much and the kids were interested in holding and touching it a lot. In the second crab trap we found another one but it was much smaller.

Later that day we went to community boating where we walked down to the lagoon with a group of kids to do some fishing. At community boating they had their own crab trap and inside there were two fish and an eel. They were sunfish and the eel got away before we were able to examine it. At the lagoon, we used worms as bait and not many of the rods had weights on them so we were not able to cast the lines very far, however, lots of people caught fish close to the shore. I remember the first kid who caught a fish, it made everyone excited to catch something including myself. Fishing requires lots of patience but if you know me, then you know that I have zero patience. Eventually I gave up because everyone was catching something except me. But thanks to Andrea I was able to catch a little sunfish! I was so happy to hold it but nervous at the same time. I hope to catch many more fish this summer.

First Fish of the Summer!

Hey everyone,

So Thursday was such an exciting filled day. First, the excitement starts off with me finally catching a fish this summer. I also saw my team catch three large fish. The morning going out into the harbor fishing was a bit slow with no bites from the fish, but as the day progressed, my group proceeded to calmer waters and I finally had caught my first fish. It was honestly more exciting than I thought it would have been. But honestly it was kind of a big deal for me, since I've never caught fish before.

As the morning turned into an afternoon, everyone came back to the dock and waited to hear who caught the biggest fish. As we waited anxiously, we all got to see the winning three huge fish. The prizes we're cool, but it was even cooler to see how large the fish were. Yeah, Thursday was a pretty awesome day for all.

Well, until next week bye
