Crabbing with my amigo

These past three days been great at children's museum and Spectacle Island. so many crabs caught, a lot of kids went home happy and learned some new things. Crabbing seems to be the popular thing at children's museum. when they do catch a crab it feels like as if they have caught a fish.  

       At children's museum it was nothing but fun. I had great time over there with the kids, teaching them new thing and educating them. When kids come to us they ask if they can go crabbing with the fishing rods instead of fishing with the fishing rods. In my opinion crabbing is quicker and funner than fishing,  I think the kids agree with me too. A lot of the kids aren't afraid to touch the crabs and hold them but yet the adults be the ones running.

Better In The Water

Today was one hot day to not remember, but I'm forced to because of the good memory. Aside from the heat. today was a great day at Revere Beach. There was a lot of cool stuff happening, and there was a lot free stuff given away. It was good times. There were games and a live band. We at Save The Harbor/Save The Bay brought our touch tank. What I like most about the day was I met this kid named Joshua, and I played frisbee with Save the Harbor staff, Thi and Andy. One thing I didn't enjoy was the hot sand that made it hard for me to walk on, so I was inside the tent more than I was in the water. One other thing I liked was the free food and apple sauce which I had five samples of. I mean who doesn't love free things. R.I.P. to the lobsters that didn't make it. We all appreciate the hours they put in. Also, big thanks to Bridget from Save the Harbor/Save the Bay for all the tasty snacks and food she brought to the office!!!

It was my first time at Revere Beach, and I had a great time there. I loved everything except the heat.

A Chill Day at The Boston Children's Museum

Hey guys, today at the Children's Museum was actually a relaxed day. I interacted with a few families and visitors this morning and enjoyed talking to them about crabs and our organization. To add on, it was fun  seeing infants and toddlers getting excited and fascinated by the green crabs my co-workers found in the harbor today. We found approximately 15 green crabs all together. Here's one visitor that was a bit scared at first to touch the crab but after a while he started to become interested in them which was great ! 

He was a such a brave kid and he actually touched one of the crabs my team found!

Also, my co-workers taught visitors how to fish and as soon as they grasped it they loved it! Here's a picture of Manny and two employees from the Children's Museum bonding! I also took a picture of a visitor and Manny teaching him how to fish. He really enjoyed fishing with us. You can tell he enjoyed Manny's company and had a great time with Save The Harbor/Save The Bay. I'm glad my team and I made our visitors engaged and interested in the green crabs and fishing as a way to start off their day. I love making people have a good time and learn something an awesome organization like us.  Later !!

Interesting eels !

Hey guys Manny here.
I  just wanted to share this awesome picture I took of me and my new little buddy Alex catching more than eight eels. At first we were both scared to touch them because we both always saw eels as electric creatures. We had never touched one or even wanted to, but Alex really impressed me because he faced his fears and picked one up. They were completely harmless of course, but all I know is today was an awesome day with my new friend Alex.

Getting to know the kids

Hey everyone, Manny here! Just wanted to blog about how awesome it was getting to know some of the kids. The one on the far left was shy when I first started trying to get to know him but his friend in the middle was very forward and out spoken. Who loved meeting new people and right away we all got into a deep conversation about cars drawings and dancing. They were so interested when they found out I was able to dance and rap. I loved how they all were little ladies men reminds me of myself when I was younger trying to be cool like the older kids. We all enjoyed the time we spent together and I hope I will never forget the experience I had with them and I know they will remember it too!

HEY EVERYONE I'M MANNY !

Hello everyone my name is Manuel Dejesus, but you can call me Manny. I am a sophomore in high school currently attending Fenway High. I am Hispanic if you couldn’t tell my hobbies are learning new things and being active.  This means giving to the community and working with children. My teacher in my school mentioned save the harbor save the bay to me and as soon as I heard that I was going to be working close to the water and learning about marine science and working with children right away I made a phone call to Michelle Palermino my current leader/boss to set up an job interview. Right away in a matter of weeks I got a call back! I was very excited to work for the program I was very happy. My current goals for this summer working for Save the Harbor/Save the Bay is to learn more about marine science. My second goal was to inspire the minds and hearts of the children of this program to have fun and to learn more about the aquatic animals in the ocean and how to fish and many more activities while being in this program. My last goal and my main one is to just HAVE FUN!
