Hey everyone so this week has been a lot of fun, as always. First off, we caught several fish and lots of crabs. This week we caught a really cool purple crab. Yesterday was the best day of the entire week.
So yesterday I met a woman who only spoke Spanish. She also had two little boys who only spoke Spanish as well. It was so cool because I got to use my second language. It was a lot of fun. I got to teach them how to fish and what Save the Harbor does for the community, and all about our summer program, but in Spanish.
There was also another woman that day who only spoke Spanish, and she was from Colombia. She was visiting Boston with her son who was only five years old. I got to hang out and teach and enjoy speaking Spanish with two very nice families, which was great. On top of that, I was offered a tip for the second time this summer. I thought it was so kind and generous. When something like that happens you know your doing a good job and your making a difference.
Like I always say, this job is a lot of fun and its the kind of job where you can have new experiences and have fun. To end this blog I would just like to say have a great weekend everyone, and I look forward to the awesome event tomorrow morning.

Little kids and lots of laughs.
Hey everyone,
So this week has been really really fun so far. On Monday we went over to Atlantic Wharf and did fish printing. It was so much fun we had a really big stripe bass, and two pretty decent sized flounders. We did about twenty fish prints, each of them with their own design.
Tuesday was also awesome. I thought the second half of the day was the best. So during the second half I met a little boy who was two years old. He was so cute and apparently he really liked me because his mom was there, and she said he does things for people when he likes them. For instance he sung me his ABCs about five times and he sung me Happy Birthday twice. I thought it was so cute. It also made my day that I was able to make him laugh. So I took a baby crab and I put it in front of him and I made funny noises with it, and moved it around. He looked at me with the brightest and biggest smile, and he laughed. It was just so much fun.
Then, at the end of the day, as we were packing up, I met a little boy and his sister. They were both so sweet. they were both arriving at the time we were cleaning up. I offered to let them each help toss the crabs in. Then, there were more kids around so we had to make it fair. It was sad because he felt like he didn't get enough turns so then we had one thing left: the FISH. I asked him if he wanted to help throw back the fish, and he said "yes". He was so happy. That's it for this blog. I cant wait to continue with the rest of this week and continue to enjoy each and every second of it. Other than that, enjoy your week, just as I will. Talk to you later!

Great end to a fourth week
So this whole week has been great. One thing I keep thinking is really cool is that we keep catching fish in crab trap and crabs on fish hooks. This week on Friday we also caught a couple purple crabs. I always think the design on the purple crabs is really cool. One thing I also love is when kids who are in camps are leaving and there counslers will say something like "thank you so much" or "this was a wonderful opportunity", or "will you guys be here tomorrow?"I'll also sometimes hear one of the kids say to another kid as they leave: "did you see the fish I caught?" I feel we are making a difference, and that other people enjoy it. I always tell people that one of the greatest feelings they can feel is when some one else smiles and its the result of them doing something good. Have a great weekend!
Hot but fun week
Hey everyone so this week has been really really hot, but we have caught so many fish, which is really cool. This week there have been so many kids from different camps and out of towners. This week I met a kid who caught one fish on his hook and then the next thing you know he caught a purple crab on his hook too. I also got to hang out with people who have been coming to the childrens museum everyday since we started. I am in general having so much fun here. Like I always say, if I could do it every summer I would. Everyone have a great week everyone.

Third week and a great week!
Hi everyone. I hope everyone has had a great start to their third week. I know I have. So far this summer I've met so many kids and I have really enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them. For example, at the beginning of this week, it was funny because there were so many kids who were using the fishing rod that has the rubber fish on it and they kept thinking it was a real fish! There was one kid who -- even though he didn't catch anything multiple times -- still thought the rubber fish was an actual fish each time he pulled it out of the water. It was so funny and cute when he said to his mother, "Look, Mom! I caught a fish!"
This week was the first week that kids we were working with actually caught fish on the hooks. Yesterday and the day before, kids caught fish on the hooks within five minutes of trying. My friend Bella and I were saying, "We've been here three weeks and we can't even catch a fish!"
Thank you all. Hope you're having a great week. I look forward to writing my second blog of the week and telling you about all the fun we're having at the Children's Museum.

Braveness, Exploration and a New friend
Hey everyone so this has been a great start to a second week. Like I always say I really enjoy working with all the kids. One of my most favorite things about being at the Children's museum is I always enjoy watching the little kids touch crabs or fish for the first time even though they are a bit nervous. Usually each kid will touch them as long as one of there parents touch them first, like you will usually hear or watch mommy touch it and then you can touch it.
Although yesterday I was very impressed. I got the opportunity to meet a little girl who had no fear. The first second she laid eyes on the crabs she wanted to touch them. The thing that I thought was special about her is she was the one saying to her mom: "do you want to touch them?" and her mom was the one who was a bit hesitant. If she could have, she would have played with the crabs and jellyfish for hours. That's the best part about this job is there's always going to be some one who has a story to tell, or is just being special in there own way. For example having that amazing amount of courage at such a young age is incredible.
The little boy I was fishing with last Friday, who has the fish that he calls Mr. fish, stopped by again yesterday and it was so sweet. As we were fishing another young boy came by and stood right by us and asked to fish. The really special part about that moment was that the boy from last Friday who was there yesterday said to the other boy that he wanted to teach him how to fish and I thought that was so nice. He remembered all the steps I had showed him last Friday and he showed him in the exact way just as if he were a pro fisherman but in his own way. I feel that I was able to make a difference in his life last Friday: not a huge one but one that he will remember. I realize that when you spend time with kids and actually take interest into what there interests are and what they enjoy you can develop a good relationship. That's why I will always remember that specific day as a day I made a young friend. Now to wrap things up I hope every one is enjoying there summer just as I am and like I always say I cant wait to continue with the rest of my summer and enjoy each and every second of it. Happy summer to all!

Funny and cute kids
So this summer has been awesome so far. I met so many awesome kids. Just the other day I met a little boy and girl who were siblings they were visiting from New York. They were so much fun to hang out with. It turns out that the little boy had a pet fish back at home which he named Mr. fish. I also got to witness really little kids who were friends. I remember the little girl was playing with the crabs and her friends was on the side watching, so after she was done she went up and hugged him, which was so sweet. As they left and were walking in the childrens museum, one of them grabbed the other ones hand and they ended up holding hands, which was so sweet. I've always thought that little kids have the most compassion and love for people and animals. They are also quite funny. During our first week there was a little girl who was using a fishing rod that had a rubber fish for the bait so each time she pulled the line up she would always scream and say I caught one which was so funny but cute as well. The unfortunate thing was that we have not caught any fish yet, but i have a feeling we will catch some soon. Hope every ones having a great summer so far, and I cant wait to continue with the rest of my summer at save the harbor save the bay/ childrens museum.

A little bit about me
Hello everyone my name is Marco and I have just finished my first year in college. I plan on getting my bachelors degree in business and then I plan on going to law school to eventually become a corporate lawyer or private attorney. I am also a person who loves to travel. Every year since I was born my parents have taken us to a small island in the
Bahamas called Harbor island. We always go for two weeks in April. We always rent our favorite beach house to stay at during our stay there. While we're there one of my favorite things to do is drive our speed boat when ever we go snorkeling, or just taking it for a drive. We also have a cabin in Nova Scotia where we travel to every August for two weeks. On our land we have a mid-sized mountain. We always take our dog for a walk to the top of it every day while we're there. We call it the head land because we can see everything from the top of it. Another thing you should know about me is that my favorite Holiday is Christmas, so every year when we buy our Christmas tree we buy one also for my room because I love the smell of the tree it always makes Christmas feel more special. You should also know that I have a passion for shopping. The last thing I would like you to know is about my family. I have an amazing mom and dad, when I was three months old they adopted me from Guatemala, and I also have a sister we adopted her when I was nine years old. She was one year old at the time.

An Amazing First Week
Hello,
My name is Marco and I've had an amazing first week. We have caught spider crabs, green crabs and fish. This week I got to spend time outside the Children's Museum getting to show and teach little kids and families about all the underwater life. This week was very hot, but also very fun. I met a lot of kids who were interested in the crabs and fish. Some of them liked to touch the animals, and other didn't. In the end, everyone seemed to be intrigued by what we creatures we caught.
This week was the first time I have ever caught and seen a spider crab up close. Getting to feel the crabs was pretty cool. We also got to go fishing right off the dock which is pretty cool. This summer I look forward to catching many more different sea creatures.
This summer has been great so far. I look forward to being able to catch a striped bass. While at the Children's Museum, we have several fishing rods and two crab traps. Each fishing rod is equipped with bait. We help teach the kids how to put bait on the rod, and we also teach them how to use the crab traps. A few kids have caught crabs using the fishing rods. I can't wait for the rest of the summer to come, because I know it will be a lot of fun.
See you at the Children's Museum,
Marco Savage

An amazing fishing trip
Hey it's Marco and this week has been the best week! This week started off with catching a stripe bass at the children's museum. As well as catching green crabs and spider crabs. This past Thursday started off really early. I met every one at fan pier and then we all had breakfast together. Then later that morning we all went off on to the fishing boats, some of us stayed near the shore and others closer to the ocean. That day was a lot of fun in the end I never thought I would be one of the people to win one of the contests. I was able to bring some fish home to my family. The next night we had a cook out in our yard we grilled some of the fish I brought home. It was delicious. Then on Friday the mlk staff had a meeting at BU. It was pretty cool. I will continue to say this but I am having a great summer and I can't wait to keep having fun the rest of the summer and enjoy spending time and having fun with people.

The sea life
Hey it's Marco and today we caught an amazing stripe bass. Each day we have caught crabs ,spider crabs and some fish. The types of crabs we catch are called green crabs and they are an invasive species from Asia they have been here for a long time. Wednesday we came to work and it stated raining which was not fun. On Thursday we have a tournament for fishing which will be a lot of fun.this weekend we have a sand castle competition which I think is so cool. I'm so happy because within a week of being here I have been able to conquer my fear of being able to hold crabs and I'm really excited about it because that is one of the small goals I had hoped to accomplish this summer. This summer is going great because I'm getting to work with little kids and with people who are so nice. I can't wait to spend more time with save the harbor save the bay this summer because I know each day is going to be more and more fun.
I will see you all at the Children's Museum!
