Last Event Of The Summer

Hiii everyone,

As days are going by, we have less and less time until the summer is over. I hope everyone is having a wonderful time and has experienced new adventures like I have throughout this summer. This weekend was our last better beaches event at constitution beach. It was great, we had Nora the storyteller telling her stories as the kids listen by the beach. Other did fish printing, in which many of them kept asking if was a real fish and when we said yes they we all surprised that we use real fish for art. Some other people ran the sand raking and they loved it. They did so many nice drawing

I like to dance, so I was near the Dj along with Andrea dancing with the little girls as if we were at a party or something. Andrea made a special request the cha cha slide dance and we all enjoyed it, dancing and singing it while Sam rap at the end. She’s really good at it too.
There was also campfire with marshmallows, even thou mine kept burning a lot of time I still ate a lot of them. There was nothing more fun then doing that at the beach as the sun goes down. It was a great event for all of the family and friends that went there. I enjoyed it very much. Well this is all for now.

Until Next Time,

Dance and Hula-Hoop!

Hii guys!

I hope everyone is doing fine and are enjoying the few days that we have left. This week I’ve been at Carson and it’s been pretty dead. Maybe it’s because of what happened, who knows. Anyways, we had this group coming over. We all got so exited and happy because we haven’t had any groups for a while. So we went down there with our equipment to hang with them.
Nieomi, Daynaja and I were ready to have fun with them. We took the initiative to put music and dance so the kids could join in and they did. We dance the cha cha dance, the Macarena dance and so much more. The kids seemed to enjoy it and so did we. We had some hula-hoop dance as well. There was this girl who was so good at it. She was very good with hula-hoops and she kept going on and on.

The boys were playing with Preston; they played football and some other jumping game. We had so much fun dancing “watch me wip now watch me nae nae” it was so much fun. They all knew how to do it. Some other girls were singing and the day was so great because just when we thought we would have no one coming down to the beach, they showed up and made our day better.

Well this is all for now,
Until next time

Art is Beautiful

HIII guys!!

I hope everyone had a terrific week; this weekend’s event was with this great professional sand raking men Andre. He went to Carson beach to teach us some great designs along with the kids. He thought us how to make flowers and different designs. The kids did pretty well. They were all fast learners and we're ready to take over all of the beach shores and make it into a beautiful flowery place. Although it was so hot, we didn't give up and at the end of the day, he showed us some cool designs for just us staff to work together. I honestly did not think we would pull it off but the result at the end was amazing.

When I looked at the pictures that he took, it was just so incredibly, I still cant believe how amazing it was. That same week, we had an event at constitution beach and the purpose of that event was also sand raking. Many adults more then kids participated and they were all so exited. I saw all of the amazing designs that they all made and it was all beautiful. Everyone was welcome to participate. Andre is a great artist, his artwork is all so amazing and what is most beautiful is that he has a great passion for it. He shared his amazing artwork and talent with so many people and not everyone is as humble as he is. Thank you Andre for the amazing experience.

Until Next time,

Saying Goodbye to Blacks Creek

Hey Everyone,

I am a little upset because Blacks Creek has come to an end. I cant believe summer is almost over! I am so thankful to have worked at Blacks Creek, this has been by far my favorite summer. I loved the experience and I got to know the kids and I absolutely love every single one of them, even those that did not listen. My favorite activity at Blacks Creek would have to be when we used to go up to the field and play games with them. I loved playing uncle sam, museum, blink killer but my favorite game would be gaga ball. The kids would love for me to play with them so they could get me out because I would always win. I cant believe its all over so fast. I loved the nature walk, the morning name games, the company of every single kids.

Every morning I would love waking up to be there with them because I know every day would be a wonderful and adventures day. I enjoyed every single day at Blacks Creek. If I come back next year to work for Save the Harbor I would love to go back to Blacks Creek just because I loved it there so much and I would honestly love to see all the kids that I care for now. I would be so happy to see them again and enjoy my summer with them again. The parents are so incredibly, when they said goodbye, they couldn't thank us enough. they said we were so great and that their child had a wonderful time that they couldn't wait for next year. They also said that we did a wonderful job and they hope to see us going back next time. It was so touching listening to how proud and thankful they all were. I am so happy that I got to be part of their summer and thankful that they made my summer incredibly wonderful.

Until next time,

Sedny

One Relaxed Day

Hi guys I'm back!

Well, this summer has been very busy and I am positive that we all needed one day of relaxation away from kids, even though we love them very much. Well, even though this year was my first year at Save the Harbor, I've heard that it was different from the past years. I was really looking forward to see Bruce and Patty bringing their boat and make burgers and hot dogs, because that's what I heard happens every Staff Day. But I guess this year plans changed. Even though I was super excited to go to Lovells Island for the first time because I wanted to see something different and be at a place that I've never been to, I was still excited to end up at Spectacle Island.

I have been to Spectacle Island before but it was a very long time ago. I enjoyed every minute of it today: the sun, the beach, the company and the food. Everything was great. I think we all needed this day away from everyone and everything, just us alone.

My favorite part of the day was when it was time to go to the beach. Although it was very hot, the water was super cold. I tried to go in but I couldn't, then Andrea decided to throw water at me and there was no point to not getting in. Ahmed was not trying to get in the water, and since I am always trouble and I always try to wet people, I tried running after him to wet him but as we all know he is pretty big with long legs. Even if you give your all energy to run, you still wouldn't catch him. I almost gave up but I didn't and I got a little splash on him. If I really wanted to get him wet, I should've told all the guys to help me and throw him in the water with his clothes and all.

Thank you for having us today, I appreciate it and I can't wait to get back to my kids at Blacks Creek.

Bye Bye!
Until Next Time,

Sedny

Beach Bash

Hi everyone!

So last week on Friday, we had what is called the Beach Splash. It was a great program! Everything was just great and everyone was on top of their games. I did the face painting table and it was wonderful. I was very thrilled when Amyy said I was doing face painting. I love painting and I love makeup, so it was like a combination of two things that I enjoy doing put together. I had a wonderful experience. Although I thought they were giving us real face paint supplies, it was just face crayons, but those still worked out pretty well.

I absolutely loved watching the kids' faces when they got to see the results of the face paint. We tried hard to get as close as possible to the pictures that the kids wanted us to paint on their faces. Every kid loved their design and I was very happy that they liked what we worked so hard to do. I even gave myself face paint as well. That way when they walked by us they got more motivated to get their face painted.

The kids really loved how the painting on their faces came out and I was very touched and happy that I could make them happy. It was a very great experience and I love how Save the Harbor/Save the Bay gives me the opportunity to do things I have never done before.

Towards lunch time, though, that's when the trouble begun. Us staff starting splashing each other and running after one another to get each other wet. I have experience at wetting people because whenever I go to Carson Beach that's what I usually do to my peers. But it's much more fun when you have the whole staff gang up against each other. I enjoyed every minute of that day and it was great to be there with all those wonderful people. If I didn't get the chance to wet you, you were lucky.

Well this is all for now!
Until next time,

Sedny

"Get Sedny Out!"

Hey everyone!

It's me again, ready to share my unique and unforgettable summer experiences at Blacks Creek. We never run out of fun things to do. The kids are always ready to do exciting and fun things. This week in particular, we switched things up just a little. The kids love playing Ga-ga ball so we started doing that early in the morning rather then after snack just because the Quincy Recreation kids have to play after snack. Anyway, the kids always try to get me out of the game because I usually stay for the longest in the game. But this week, its been  very crazy fun. Everyone shouts: "Get Sedny out, get Sedny out..." Well, it's fun to play with them, especially when they say to get me out. It makes me feel that I am doing what am supposed to be doing and those kids are having a very fun summer. I honestly love
playing any games with them.

I usually lead the after-snack games, and when we are not playing Ga-ga ball, some kids are doing kick ball and others are usually with me either playing Museum, Uncle Sam or the Blink Killer, among other fun activities. The point is, the kids are always being active and moving around doing a variety of things. This week, when we were at the field playing Uncle Sam, three girls were apart doing gymnastics. I was surprised at what they were able to do. It was very cool, I enjoyed watching those three doing what they like to do.

Usually in the morning if there are kids who do not want to go in the water, I let them color. It's really fun because it is just a couple of them and it's very bonding that way too. That is when they tell you about their interests, what they like to do at home, their favorite hobbies and many other things. It is much more fun because I like to hear the kids out. I like to get to know them and it's good because I care about each and every one that I work with.

Well, that's it for now! Hope you guys are all having fun, and getting darker just like I have gotten.
Until next time,

Sedny A.

Good Catch!

Hiiiii Everyone.

I am always so exited to share with you all how amazing and smooth everything is. Its always great at Blacks Creek. We always have new things happening everyday. This week we caught the biggest crab we have ever gotten at blacks Creek, and the weirdest thing about it was that  we didn't even put any bait on the crab strap. It was pretty big, the kids all wanted to touch it and see how big it was (it doesn't look big on the picture thou).

On Thursday, we had a special friend at the Creek. Someone's dog was there and the kids took the initiative to play with it as the owner showed up. They played catch with him, trowing the ball from here to there. They all wanted to play with the dog. I am terrified of dogs but this one in particular looked very friendly. However I was distant because I get scared when I see dogs running around with a leash.( I was chased by a god when I was about 8 years old, that is why I do NOT like dogs).
We also had a very particular sand design this week. One of the kids wanted to do something different so she designed this very nice sand design that she liked very much. I did too. We honestly never get bored there because we always find new things to do and explore everyday. Therefore Blacks Creek is so special and I am deeply in love with the nature and the kids and everything surrounded by it.

Keeping you posted,

Sedny

New Adventure Everyday

Hey you all!

I hope everyone is having a great time. It's been a really good week at Blacks Creek, as always. This week so far we've had a lot of fun. We played a different game called Gaga Ball. The game is very fun. All the kids loved it. Basically, it's very similar to kick ball but instead you can't get the ball to hit you above your knees and you and everyone else is inside a hexagon-shaped enclosure and everyone is kind of hitting the ball to one another and try to take them off the game. The kids loved the idea and kept asking for more and more rounds until we had no more time to play. Everyone was having a great time. I enjoy watching the kids having a good time: It makes me feel satisfied.

This week was also very fun at Carson. I let some kids bury me in the sand but then got stuck and couldn't get out. I thought the other staff wouldn't help me out and felt like I was going to be there for a while. It took us a couple of minutes to actually get me out. But the funny thing was that when people were passing by they were all surprised and laughing as if they have never seen such a thing. I looked weird, too, because it looked like I was standing up but only my shoulder and up was showing. You would not see the other part of my body. That was something new: I've never been buried in the sand before and honestly I don't even know how I agreed to let them bury me. But life is to experience new adventures every day and that's why I love my job!

Then on Tuesday at Courageous, I found out my new talent: I can actually draw! No. I'm kidding; but I'm not bad at it. I want to share my pictures with those that didn't have the chance to see. It all started off when I was coloring with the kids, so I said instead of coloring I will just start from scratch and make my own seal design in chalk. And so I did and it was pretty exiting because they loved it. You never know if you're good at something until you try. Therefore I'm happy to say that I try new things everyday and therefore I'm discovering new things about myself that I never knew before. Well, I hope everyone is doing great and having the best time ever!

Until next time,

Sedny A.

Hula Hoop and Water Volleyball

Hi everyone!

First let me tell you guys that I'm honestly in love with this job. Every single day is a new adventure and new opportunities to do things I never got to do when I was growing up. Well, this week at Carson has been one of the greatest weeks ever. This week we had different organizations coming to the beach. We had one group with a couple of little girls that wanted me to teach them how to hula hoop. They are around 5-7 years old. I taught them how to hula hoop and it felt so good because they were so young and most of them did not know how to hula hoop. Knowing that I taught those that didn't know how to hula hoop before made me feel great! After they kind of learned how to do it, they wanted to do a "competition" to see who could hula hoop longer. They wanted me to participate too, so I did. I obviously made it seem like they could go longer than me, so I kept losing every time so that they could win. I wanted them to feel proud of themselves, I wanted them to have fun, and I wanted them to tell their friends how they hula hooped and they loved it.

One of my favorite activities this week at Carson was the water volleyball. On Friday, a group of fourteen girls called "Let's Get Movin' " came in to Carson. They got the volleyball and wanted to play in the water. Well, us staff could not wait to get in the water with them as well! It was hot, almost 95 degree out, so why not? I for one enjoyed it: the water felt good. Anyways, we played water volleyball, which later turned into monkey in the middle. It was so much fun, especially with the girls because I noticed that one girl in particular looked very shy but at the end of the game she joined in and I could tell she had so much fun. They enjoyed our company as much as we enjoyed theirs. Their afternoon turned out to be a game of monkeys and chasing after the volley ball that kept going away from where we were playing because of the wind blowing it towards the ocean. We ended up losing the ball at the end of the day because it got so far away that we couldn't reach it. However, we never lost the fun!

Well, this is all for now. I hope you all are having the best time of your life like me!

Until next time,

Sedny A.
