From City to Sea

Hello All!

My name is Winston Daley and I am the new Director of Youth and Beach Programs at Save the Harbor/Save the Bay. I will oversee our Youth Environmental Education Program.

My family immigrated to Boston from Jamaica when I was 10 years old and I have been in the city most of my life. I have my Bachelors Degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurial Studies from Suffolk University and spent over a dozen years working in finance.

Two years ago I left my career to work in youth development, advocacy and community leadership. Since then I’ve earned a Master’s degree from Northeastern University, worked in schools as a tutor, coach and assistant athletic director, and became a national facilitator and speaker for violence prevention programs.

I am passionate about expanding the opportunities available to kids in the city because I was once where they are now and know the value of having people to champion you. So what does all of that have to do with environmental advocacy and Save the Harbor/Save the Bay? I am here at Save the Harbor/Save the Bay because of the goal to “Share the Harbor”. Here I have the opportunity to introduce more Boston youth to the Harbor and expand their idea of community all while having some fun and singing sea chanteys.

When I am not at work I am spending time with my family, playing catch with my daughter, and attending piano and dance recitals.

I am excited for summer and while I may not be a marine scientist yet, just give me some time. You can reach me at Daley@savetheharbor.org
