And the fun begins!

Today was my first day working with the kids at Piers Park. After arriving early and watching one of the spectacular tall ships arrive in the harbor, I greeted eager, young faces that arrived at the entrance. Once the kids arrived, we were able to play a game on the lawn to loosen everyone up and run around. After, we went down to the dock fished, crabbed, and pulled up an old lobster trap. It looked like something out of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” It was covered in mussels, live crabs, sea squirts, rockweed, and other sea creatures (even zooplankton). Through all of the creatures, we spotted a baby Maine Lobster sitting at the bottom of the trap. The kids were able to take turns holding the lobster and examine the other sea life that the trap had to offer. The kids were intrigued by this and loved every bit of it!! I can’t wait to go back and see what’s next.

Til next time, Alice Binns
