I'm So Excited for This Summer at Save the Harbor!

Hi, my name is Grace, and I will be entering 10th grade at Boston Latin School in the fall. I live in Roslindale and I like to bake and spend time with my friends, family, and my dog. I also play the violin.

This is my first year at Save the Harbor, and I'm excited to work here, because I am passionate about advocating about climate change, and one important way to help with this is to clean up and learn about the ways to protect our oceans, considering that they cover over 70% of the Earth's surface. So, I am excited to do my part and learn about the ways I can help protect Boston's oceans and other bodies of water.

On Tuesday of this week, we walked around a saltwater marsh and then we went to Nahant Beach. On Wednesday we spent the whole day at Revere Beach, which was pretty fun. When we were there, we picked up trash, planned our deliverable, and created art in the sand.

On Thursday, we went to Short Beach, where we also picked up trash, looked at some of the creatures in the tide pools, filmed our deliverable since we chose to make a video for it, and went fishing, although we weren't very successful with that. In the tide pools, we found plenty of interesting creatures, including hermit crabs, other crabs, mussels, many sea snails, and clams. I enjoyed my first week at Save the Harbor and I can't wait for next week!
