Hey, how are ya?
Stanley Walker here. If I had three words to describe how I feel about my summer, they'd be excited, intrigued and optimistic. I'm excited to finally work with kids because I have worked with the elderly before and I would love to see how the two compare. Some of my favorite activities are traveling, watching sports, trips to the beach (during the summer of course) and video games. As the only male in my immediate family, I spent a lot of time with women growing up. That taught me the meaning of patience. Patience is key when working with people. I missed the first day of orientation because I was actually attending an orientation for Lasell College (the school I will be attending in the fall), so I missed out on some information about Save the Harbor. Although I missed some stuff, on the second day of orientation I was still able to learn how to fish.
Fun fact: Every day I wake up and fill my water bottle with water from my fridge. Something I will never forget is the fact that Boston has the cleanest tap water in the country (Thanks to the Harbor). So whenever I fill it, I tell myself that I could be drinking water straight from the kitchen sink. I've realized as I get older that water is the best drink of all time, simply because it heals. People who only drink water, tend to be healthier since water flushes toxins out of our bodies. Being given the opportunity to work with kids and work on the Harbor was one that I could not pass up.
As mentioned before, I plan to attend Lasell College in the fall but my major is undecided. I felt like that was the best option for me because I like Knowing stuff. Like anything. People say knowledge is power so I'd love to see how this works out for me if I continue to search the world for whatever knowledge I can find. In the fall, I will start with fashion communication classes because I am into both fashion and communication. I am also going to be in yet another photo shoot on July 15th so I can have more shots to add to my portfolio. Luckily for me, the person taking the photos is an old friend of mine and another friend of mine is also going to be in the shoot.
I'm really excited to see what other opportunities arise for me this summer and fall. Thanks to Save the harbor, I can cross some more stuff off my bucket list. Now that you have some sort of idea of the type of person I am, I'd love it if you came back every so often to check out my blog. I'll be posting every week during the summer, updating you on What's Up With Stanley.
I'm Stanley Walker and I'll see you next time!!!
