Sailing into Year 5 :)

Hi everyone! It’s Aleena (she/her) and I’m so excited to be back on the harbor for my fifth summer! I was born and raised in Boston, and I’m a college student entering my junior year at Howard University. I’m studying Criminology and Political Science, in hopes of pursuing a career in the law field. In my freetime I love listening to music and going out with friends!

This past school year I had the honor of being the Community Engagement Assistant for Save the Harbor. I loved being able to continue my work through the school year. I learned how to do outreach to local organizations; this position deepened my knowledge of non-profit organizations as a whole, since I got to directly connect with our partners! We got to plan some awesome events for this coming summer too!

It was refreshing to get on the Belle for our recurring kick-off fishing trip. Being out on the harbor was so nice! I’m excited to reunite with friends and see familiar faces. I’m already building new connections in just one week! One of my favorite things about working here is the amount of people I meet each summer, and the amount of friendships I have made in the past years. I’m super excited to be working with my SHE Fatima at Piers Park, I can tell this is going to be a great summer!
