Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot...on Spectacle Island

Another week at Spectacle Island has flown by!  Even though construction on the dock at Georges' Island kept the STH/STB staff from exploring Fort Warren and hearing the legend of the Black Lady, we soldiered on to a week of swimming and sea glass hunting with the more than 1,000 kids that came out on the harbor with us!

Tuesday was wicked, wicked hot, and I was pretty bummed that I had not brought my bathing suit (since I had planned on going to Georges' Island).  Luckily new staffer Andrew, a.k.a. The Beast, was kind enough to drag both Thi and myself into the water, clothes and all.  After our initial shock wore off, we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon splashing around with the kids from the East Boston YMCA.

One of the funniest groups that came out with us this week has to be the Salesian Boys and Girls Club.  Not only were their kids well-behaved and super excited to explore the island, their staff was friendly and got all the kids on the boat pumped up for the trip.  Hopefully we'll get to see them again before the summer ends!

This week is going to be our 3rd in a row on Spectacle Island -- how did we get so lucky?!?  Can't wait for more harbor adventures to come!
