First Day at Camp Harbor View

The first day at Camp Harbor View went better than expected! Despite the extreme heat, the kids had a great time catching all sorts of marine creatures on the rocky beach at low tide. I was surprised at how many of the campers had never caught a crab before! I was glad to be a part of their first crab catching experience. A few of the kids were scared of even the baby crabs at first, but at the end of the day were bragging about how many they found. We were able to find hundreds of crabs of all sizes! The creatures we found included Asian shore crabs, periwinkles, hermit crabs, and tunicates, just to name a few. The best place to be on such a hot day is down by the ocean, where some were even able to stop and pose for a picture! I could not have asked for a better first day.
