Inaugural Post
Hi everyone! My name is Carolyn Burkett and this is my first summer at Save the Harbor. I’m going to be a freshman at Wake Forest University this fall, but I’m super excited about working on the docks and islands around Boston before I move down to North Carolina.
Today was my first day on the job, and it was a blast. I went with Caitlin and Jen to the Boston Children’s Museum and set up an interactive outside program. Despite the heat (and boy was it hot), we were kept busy by all the curious kids that stopped by to set crab traps, search for lobsters, and learn how to fish. This was the first time I had ever seen a crab trap, and the kids kept catching crabs both big and small. I really enjoyed talking to everyone at the “touch tank” and showing them that even though the crabs might look scary, they are actually pretty cool.
I hope that the rest of my days with Save the Harbor are as much fun as this one. The morning flew by and I can’t wait to get back out to work with all the great people here!
