Last friday was the day that we have been waiting for all summer, the 2014 Beach Bash and Splash!
With over 700 kids on M street beach in South Boston, we couldn't have asked for a better day of relaxing by the beach, playing sports, and enjoying over 1,000 hot dogs! With kids coming from all over the greater Boston area, everyone had a chance to mingle and see just how many kids get to share in the Save the Harbor experience throughout the summer!
The majority of my day was spent informing guests of our petition to get reduced fares for the Boston harbor cruises, and also free bussing to local beaches such as M street beach. Armed with my trusty clipboard and pen, myself and some of the other staff were able to collect over 300 signatures from guests and other supporters of our cause. With such positive feedback from just that one day I am confident that we will soon see this plan come to action, which will benefit more than just the youth that we service during the summer at our Save the Harbor programs.
After working hard to get signatures and also providing food and water to our hungry guests, it was time to have some fun! After the fiasco of over 700 kids simultaneously running into the water to kick off our day, myself and fellow staff members spent the rest of the afternoon acting like most of the kids that attended! There was not one staff member that was dry that afternoon, from getting drenched by a bucket or tossed in the water, it was all in good fun! At the end of the day, cleaning up after over 700 kids was nothing compared to the fun that we all had that afternoon. The Beach Bash and Splash is something special, and it was quite an experience to be there.

Until next time, keep on exploring!
