What a scorcher today was Harbor Explorers! It reached close to 90 degrees out on Spectacle Island today, and the rest of the week looks like it's going to be even hotter. It's days like these where we have to be extra aware of what our bodies are telling us -- dehydration and too much sun isn't all that fun for kids or staffers!

Cooling off after a long day |
The first All Access trip to Spectacle Island saw several Save the Harbor staffers leading a group of determined youngsters up to the meadow for a game of kickball. The competition was fierce and the runs were coming in, but the heat forced us to call the game early. Before marching down to the beach, we made sure all the children got a few minutes to rest in the shade to catch their breath or have a sip of water. The rest of the afternoon was spent at the beach, staying cool and splashing around!

Happy staffers |
Staying cool, wearing sunscreen and drinking lots of water is a great way to stay safe during the dog days of summer while still having fun. Safety first Harbor Explorers!
