KARRISHA IS BACK FOR ANOTHER SUMMER!!!!

Hey awesome Save the Harbor / Save the Bay Blog Readers!

My name is Karrisha Gillespie, and I am an upcoming Junior at the Kents Hill School! I was born and raised right here in the great city of Boston. I absolutely love swimming, fishing, crabbing, and walking along our public beaches that our clean harbor has provided. More importantly, this is my THIRD consecutive summer with this amazing program.  Many people ask me, "What is so special about working for Save the Harbor Save the Bay?"  This question is always followed by: "What's not to like about spending the summer outside fishing, crabbing, finding sea glass, and sharing our beautiful harbor with Bostonians?"

I am so glad to be back and share this awesome experience with the All Access crew :)
Save the Harbor hosts various activities in and around Boston! We run 8 camp groups: All Access Boston Harbor, Children's Museum, Blacks Creek, Camp Harbor View, Courageous Sailing Center, Pier's Park, Harry McDonough Sailing Center, and Community Boating,  for young kids and teens to explore, observe, and use our harbor. Often times we can expect to see familiar faces, but are always excited to work with new kids! Everyday is a great day so come out and see what our harbor has to offer!

GOOD NEW NEWS!!!!!!!

Save the Harbor is stronger than ever due to our new underwater cameras!

Kiauna and I checking out the new underwater camera!

We are now able to supplement our explanations about life underneath the harbor with a visual that displays everything that is going on in that exact moment! The cameras are extremely easy to use and the screens are clear! My favorite thing that I saw was a small flounder swimming up to the camera as its head swished side to side!

Kiauna and I looking at 3 small fish and a sea star!
We are all excited about our new cameras and cannot wait to see how the kids will react to them! Stay tuned to find out!

Training week has been a pleasure! I enjoyed welcoming all of the new summer staff and seeing returning staff. We are all pumped, so I cannot wait to see what's in store for the rest of this summer!
