Policy Intern - Mary Brandt

Hi everyone,

My name is Mary Brandt and though I started late in the season, I am excited to be a part of Save the Harbor’s Environmental Policy internship team! I am from the city of Beverly, about thirty minutes North of Boston. I am a rising senior at Ithaca College and currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science with a minor in art. I have always been interested in the environment and art, both are passions of mine that I intend to expand my skills on. Ever since I was little, I have always been interested in saving and protecting the environment and researching the science behind clean ups, or environmental technologies. Taking samples, looking at collected data or researching new ideas for a project are my main sources of interest. Aside from all the science behind collection, I also enjoy creating posters, making drawings of my surroundings and painting.
As an intern I hope to bring my passions into the field, and spread awareness about the environment. I also hope to learn more about everything that this organization does for the city of Boston and the surrounding cities. As someone who has not worked for a non-profit organization before, I am excited to learn about fundraising, event planning, advocacy, and researching or analyzing data. Even though I do not live in Boston, I enjoy exploring the city and helping save the beaches and natural landscapes around the area!
