Hey all,
Today was really cool. I caught my first fish! I went fishing with Bruce, Sam, and Camp Harbor View. We went out into the harbor by the Islands, and the first thing we did was fish for bait. No more than five minutes in we hit a school of Mackerel. So we throw rods in and BAM: six, seven, eight, nine fish, one after the other. I'm not sure exactly how many we caught but it was a lot.
Then, we picked up the Camp Harbor View kids. Bruce taught me how to tie a hook and a weight so that I could do it for all of the kids who needed it. It was a really nice feeling to be able to help all of the kids with their fishing rods. I didn't grow up fishing, so it was a completely new experience for me.
Once we got out with the kids, we caught even MORE fish! Black fish, skates, and a big Tautog. Seeing kids reel them in, everyone casting out lines and putting on new bait; the fishing boat following the fish from spot to spot was all really exciting. Overall, this has been a really fun day. I am excited to go back to the children's museum, knowing what I know now. I am confident we can catch some fish (in fact, Sam told me he knows their are fish over there, because he caught them).
